CARE

Our soap and its ingredients
are preservative free, contains
fresh milk and has a high
glycerine content, so this soap
needs a little extra love.

HOW TO
CHOOSE A SOAP:

Please check the label for ingredients which may cause any allergies or may bother sensitive skin. Exfoliants can be scratchy for some, though we pass them through a double muslin cloth.

HOW TO
STORE PACKAGED SOAP:

Store the packaged soap in a cool, dry place; do not store the packaged soap in a humid place like a bathroom as the soap attracts moisture, which will make the soap soft and mouldy. We recommend storing the soap in a linen closet as the scented soap will make the linen smell great too. If the transfer of the scent onto other items is a concern, then the soap may be wrapped in a waxed paper.

HOW TO
USE THE SOAP:

Handmade soap does not like moisture. We recommend a quick rinse to wet your skin before applying soap. Use a bath mitt, washcloth or just your hands to apply the soap bar on the body. Start at your neck and shoulders and work your way down the length of your body.

In monsoons when there is high level of humidity in the air, the soap will get mushy as it gets smaller. We recommend scooping it out like a moisturizer; apply it onto wet skin and lather with a bath mitt or a washcloth.

PRECAUTIONS
WHEN USING SOAP:

Handmade soap stings the eye as we do not add any chemicals to make it a no-tear formula. Please rinse thoroughly with plain water if it occurs.

Soap is slippery when wet, so take care not to step on a wet bar while in the shower.

To clean your soles with soap, we recommend sitting on a tabouret.

We know the soap smells nice, but please do not eat the soap.

HOW TO
STORE SOAP WHEN IN USE:

The handmade soap naturally has a high glycerine content which means it needs to dry out between uses. The glycerine attracts water and if left standing in the water, the soap will disappear quickly.

To make the soap last longer, do not place the soap in a dish or a container that allows water to pool in the bottom. The built-in soap dish in the shower also does not drain the water from the soap properly.

The soap must be away from the shower and placed on a well-draining soap dish. The soap should be turned over at night to allow the bottom to dry well until the next use.

HOW TO
USE SOAP WHEN IT GETS TINY:

As the soap bar gets smaller, the soap sliver can be melded with the new bar of soap, like we have been doing it for years.

HOW TO
CHOOSE A SOAP DISH:

A soap dish with ridges is ideal as it allows air to pass through the soap bottom. The raised nubs and holes underneath help the water to drain out and keep the soap bottom dry.

HOW TO
CLEAN A SOAP DISH:

The soap dish collects a little soap along the way and the crevices start filling up with soap if left unattended. We recommend cleaning the soap dish with a dish brush before you open the next soap.
